The Director will lead the execution of strategic planning, implementation initiatives, and continuous improvement of the technology solutions. The position requires a strong technical background in ERP applications, project/program management, and an ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to align applications with business needs. This will require the ability to manage employees and vendor relationships which will help the organization achieve and maintain a stable and responsive portfolio of applications. It is expected that this leader will help our organization maintain a modern platform which promotes technology agility and incorporates modern approaches such as cloud ERP, platform-as-a-service capabilities, and embedded AI. As a key member of the senior IT management team, the Director of ERP will collaborate closely with other leaders in IT and business units to spearhead digital transformation initiatives, optimize application value, and ensure the security and compliance of our application landscape.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Strategic leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for ERP that supports our organization’s business goals and objectives. Own, maintain, and promote awareness of the strategic roadmap.
- Team leadership and development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performance team of IT professionals. Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and ongoing improvement.
- Business engagement: Develop productive relationships with business leaders across our organization to influence how applications can enable new sources of value. Conduct regular surveys of stakeholders’ satisfaction, publish the results, and implement action plans to improve satisfaction.
- Portfolio management: Oversee the management of the ERP project portfolio, ensuring it meets current and future business requirements. Evaluate and prioritize objects based on strategic alignment, return on investment, and risk.
- Operational excellence: Safeguard the reliability, availability, and performance of the ERP system. Implement best practices for application life cycle management, including development, deployment, maintenance, support, and retirement of solutions.
- Vendor management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and partners. Develop a nuanced understanding of strategic vendors’ roadmaps and how these will support the company’s business objectives.
- Risk management and compliance: Work with cybersecurity, risk, compliance, and legal teams to ensure applications comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Oversee risk management processes to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with applications and database systems.
- Budget management: Develop and manage the budget for the ERP team, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost-effectiveness.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT, with at least five years in a leadership role managing ERP.
- Proven history of leading digital transformation initiatives and implementing large-scale IT projects.
- In-depth knowledge of ERP platforms, cloud computing, and related technologies. SAP experience strongly preferred. Ability to use strategic planning to translate business goals into technology solutions. Demonstrated success in vendor and stakeholder management.
- Exceptional communication and people skills. Ability to collaborate with Director peers and project stakeholders across the organization, and to influence people to achieve common goals beneficial to the overall organization. Ability to articulate complex IT concepts and related value to business team members.
- Strong project management skills, including experience with waterfall and agile methodologies including a strong understanding of how to effectively manage people, cost, and time. Thorough understanding of managing issues/risks and the appropriate escalation and mitigation.
- Understanding of financial principles and ability to manage budgets and optimize costs.
- Readiness to lead, inspire, and develop innovative teams. Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement while demonstrating sound judgment and making timely, effective decisions.
- High ethical standards and trustworthiness. Ability to act consistently with transparency and accountability.
