Our Vision for this Role
As the Indirect Tax Accountant, you will report to the Indirect Tax Manager and will be a key member of the internal tax team. This role is responsible for the timely and accurate compilation, filing and payment of the company’s sale and use, personal property, real estate and other state and local indirect taxes, preparing monthly accruals, account reconciliations and postings to the accounting system. This person will be instrumental in the ensuring overall compliance, reporting, and visibility into our indirect tax liabilities and assist in driving process efficiencies which are scalable and supportive of a growing company, while ensuring effective compliance with policy and state and local laws.
What We Will Accomplish Together
- Ensuring all required indirect tax filings, remittances and due dates are maintained and updated in the compliance calendar
- Reviewing and maintaining sales and use tax rates for the state and local jurisdictions
- Working cross functionality to ensure indirect tax data is accurate, complete and timely
- Reconciling the related tax accounts, determine the appropriate monthly accruals and record necessary posting to the GL
- Compiling filings and payments for sale and use, personal property, real estate tax and other state and local indirect taxes
- Supporting indirect tax audits
- Researching indirect tax issues and summarize findings for leadership
- Collaborating activities with external tax consultants and 3rd party outsource partners
- Monitoring potential, pending and enacted changes in tax laws and regulatory guidance, effectively understanding and communicating anticipated impacts to leadership
- Assisting with the development of reporting and analysis of indirect tax liabilities and spend fluctuations and trends
- Assisting with the development and monitoring of metrics to measure indirect tax activities and benchmarks
- Supporting income tax team, other projects and initiatives as assigned
What You Have
- You should have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field mandatory
- You should have 2 - 4 years of accounting or large company experience preparing indirect tax filings
- You should have extensive knowledge of state and local indirect tax compliance laws and regulations
- You should have experience with state and local indirect tax audits
- You should be familiar with Accounting ERP software and other Operational Support software. SAP and Power BI experience a plus
- You should have a proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and compliance
- You should have excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- You should have demonstrated research skills and ability comprehend complex tax issues affecting indirect tax compliance
- You should have familiarity with real estate tax assessments
- You should have the ability to analyze accounting records and adopt methods needed to solve tax reporting challenges
- You should have exceptional planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
- You should be detail oriented with refined planning and organizing abilities
- You should be a team player who works with appropriate sense of urgency and ownership to meet deadlines
- You should be proficient in Excel (e.g. pivot tables, V/H-lookups, etc.) Power Point and Word
- Finally, you should bring an excellent sense of humor to the table - we like to have FUN!
