Position Description:                                                                              

The Senior Payroll Processor has knowledge and expertise of payroll processing amongst all Flynn’s brands. They will be the primary back-up for processing brands as needed and be a mentor to Assistants and Processors. They will work collaboratively and with a team of skilled professionals in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, demonstrating precision and expertise, to maximize efficiency and productivity. The Senior Payroll Processor primarily works extensively in the SAP Payroll system utilizing SAP to audit and correct payroll information prior to transmission, review completed payroll for accuracy, and investigate as needed to resolve pay discrepancies. The Senior Payroll Processor should be experienced professionals who understand complex and unique factors involved in processing payroll.

 

Essential Responsibilities Include:

Customer Service 10%:

  • Assist operations/employees via phone and email with payroll issues
  • Answer and redirect phone calls, emails and messages
  • Research and resolve production employee issues as needed 
  • Maintain clear and open lines of communication between employer, employee and any third-party agencies.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, help troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner


Payroll Processing 65%:

  • Plan, organize and coordinate the payroll process for assigned region/brand or payroll in accordance with established regulations, timelines, policies and procedures.
  • Review and audit brand time keeping systems that may impact payroll processing and communicate findings to Supervisor Manager and Operations.
  • Research and resolve system problems to ensure accurate payroll results
  • Closely manage and nurture a proactive market/brand approach to identify and eliminate at-risk issues
  • Prepare and review payroll reports of earnings, hours, and deductions as needed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues within the HRIS/Payroll systems, create and run ad hoc reports as needed
  • Prepare and distribute information to employees and Operations regarding changes to the payroll process.
  • Ability to process and maintain a high volume of input and changes
  • Ensure checks and direct deposits are canceled, voided and reissued as needed in a timely manner
  • Initiate collaborative efforts to resolve any reported, perceived or actual payroll errors.
  • Assist Market Accountants with researching month-end payroll discrepancies as needed.
  • Stay current on knowledge of company payroll/HR policies and procedures, administration guidelines, and related regulatory issues for federal, state, and local governments.
  • Ability to provide assistance in various areas of Payroll to include but not limited to (Garnishments, Mail, Phone, VOE, Washington Writs and Final checks) in times of high volume or staff needs

 

Payroll Processing Level (2) 10%:

  • Payroll system and Market/Brand subject matter expert
  • Backup processor to all Markets/Brands with ability to cover accordingly
  • Support and provide guidance to Assistants and Processors on procedures, guidelines, and regulations to make sure they are understood and implemented.
  • Prepare to communicate in Brand Operation meetings updates, changes, system issues.

 

Payroll Processing Level (3) 15%:

  • Mastery of the Fundamentals Knowledge and expertise on all Flynn’s Brands including brands POS systems, loading time, processing, vacation rules etc.
  • Primary back up for Support Center Payroll
  • Run reports including but not limited to employees missing a cost center, withdrawn employees with DailyPay account, quota adjustment audit and locked employee audit
  • Load profit share files for all Flynn’s Brands timely and accurately
  • Assist with testing, configuration and implementation of new systems, processes and other projects as needed.
  • Lead unclaimed property activities such as audits, reissue of property and due diligence letters, and other projects as needed.
  • Conduct in-person training, create training videos, desktop guides, work with Supervisor and Manger to keep procedures up to date.
  • Collaborate with Leadership to troubleshoot and solve complex operations and payroll tasks
  • Manages the Payroll Ticketing/Request inbox and ensures all requests are being responded to in a timely manner

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a multi-state high-volume payroll processing environment.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours would be a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to accurately process high volume of transactions
  • Detail-oriented, strong math skills, accounting background a plus.
  • Professional maturity in handling confidential information (salaries, personal information etc). Must be discreet and tactful
  • Ability to create, develop and deliver virtual and in-person training.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Great customer service, collaboration and interaction skills. Position requires ability to obtain results quickly in the face of conflicting priorities while maintaining a positive relationship with both internal and external customers, team members,
  • Good research, analysis and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in Windows-based word processing and spreadsheet software Office 365 (ideally MS Office 2010).
  • Familiarity with SAP or other ERP (Oracle, PeopleSoft, Lawson) payroll a plus.
